What is filler words?

Definition

Filler words are the sounds and words speakers use while thinking — um, uh, like, you know — plus false starts and repeated phrases. In recorded video they add length without meaning and are routinely edited out.

Why remove fillers from product videos

Tutorials and demos are watched to get something done; hesitations make steps harder to follow and videos 20 to 40 percent longer. Removing fillers (while keeping deliberate pauses) tightens the video without changing its content.

How removal works

Editors find fillers in the transcript and cut the matching frames. AI editing detects and removes them automatically, and re-voicing the cleaned script with an AI voice eliminates audible seams.
