Explaino (“Explaino”, “we”, “us”) turns screen recordings into narrated videos, transcripts and step-by-step articles. This policy covers the Explaino web studio (studio.explaino.app), the Explaino Chrome extension, the Explaino desktop app for Windows and macOS (including the Mac App Store version), and this website.

• Account data: your phone number (used to sign in with a one-time code), your name and email address if you provide them, and an internal user ID.
• Recordings you choose to process: screen video, microphone audio, system audio and webcam video. Recordings can contain anything that was on your screen or said aloud, so review them before you upload or share.
• Content we generate for you: transcripts, scripts, AI voiceovers, captions, translations, articles, screenshots taken from your recording, exported videos, playlists and view-only share links.
• Billing data: your credit balance and usage history. Card payments are handled by our payment processor; we do not see or store your full card number.
• Technical data: server logs and error reports (for example IP address, request times and error messages), and usage analytics on this website and the web studio (see section 5). Analytics tools set cookies; you can block them in your browser settings.

We do not collect contacts, location, browsing history or advertising identifiers, and we do not use your data to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

• Recordings are saved on your computer. The app asks the operating system for screen recording, microphone and camera permission, and uses them only while you record or preview your webcam.
• While you are signed in and recording with the microphone on, the microphone audio is streamed to our speech-to-text provider (Deepgram) to show a live transcript.
• When you stop a recording while signed in, the app uploads a copy of it to Explaino so we can prepare your script, voiceover and article. When you choose Share, the exported video (and the article, if you include it) is uploaded to create a view-only link.
• The desktop app contains no analytics or advertising trackers.

• To provide the service you ask for: sign-in, recording processing, AI voiceovers, transcripts, translations, articles, exports, playlists and sharing.
• To keep your account and credits correct, and to prevent abuse and fraud.
• To find and fix errors and keep the service reliable.
• To answer your support requests.

We do not sell your personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use your recordings to train our own AI models.

We share data only with the service providers below, only as needed to run the feature you use, under their terms for business customers:

We also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or of Explaino.

A view-only link or a public playlist lets anyone who has the link watch that content. A limited playlist is visible only to the phone numbers you add. You can remove videos from a playlist or delete the playlist at any time.

Your content is stored on Amazon Web Services in India (ap-south-1). Our providers may process data in other countries, including the United States.

We keep your account data and content for as long as your account is active or until you delete it. When you delete your account, we delete your account data and content within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (for example payment records). Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.

• Access or export: ask us for a copy of your data.
• Correct: update your details or ask us to correct them.
• Delete content: delete recordings, projects and playlists in the studio, or ask us to.
• Delete your account: email us from the phone number or email on your account, and we delete the account and its data as described above.
• Withdraw permissions: turn off screen recording, microphone or camera access for Explaino in your operating system settings at any time.

Send requests to [email protected]. We reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act or the EU GDPR), you may also complain to your data protection authority.

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). On the desktop app, your sign-in tokens are kept in the operating system’s secure storage. Access to our systems is limited to people who need it to run the service. No system is perfectly secure; tell us right away if you think your account has been compromised.

Explaino is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

We will post any change on this page and update the date at the top. For significant changes we will also notify you in the product or by email.
